welcome to the store of affordable cottage design
The Essential Cottage redefines the American Dream of home ownership by capturing the spirit of affordable cottages, traditional narrow infill lot designs, and small homes as shelter with refined style. The homes are suitable for a variety of home ownership situations such as starter homes, homes for a growing family, homes for the empty nester and as vacation homes. All of the traditional single family homes herein are design with green building, sustainable energy and energy star strategies in mind. The designs are by award winning architect, Leslie Graham McCormick for Atelier359; a boutique Architectural collaborative based in Asheville North Carolina and the 30A Coast in Northwest Florida.
The Essential Cottage is a collection of pre-designed house plans of modestly sized affordable homes which are suitable for narrow lots, New Urbanist communities, sustainable building strategies and traditional walkable neighborhoods. Most of the cottage designs will fit on the typical early 20th century bungalow lot size of 50’ in width. So, home owners can take advantage of new, existing and infill lots close to the city’s central employment centers. The designs are also tailored to be built in developments which have traditional design guidelines or pattern books and as stand-alone structures in more rural farmhouse environments. The floor plans as designed, allow other exterior design strategies in addition to the one shown. These design strategies include mid-century modern, old Florida style, bungalow style, craftsman style and those using masonry construction techniques.
All of the designs use six inch exterior structural walls and other elements which can allow the contractor or home owner to attain various green building standards, healthy built sustainable home design standards as well as hurricane zone ratings for coastal homes. |
